RIYADH — A team from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) on Saturday paid an oversight visit to the shelter project targeting Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
The team members checked on the work progress of implementing the scheme that is scheduled to benefit 3,000 refugees through constructing 500 shelter units at Cox's Bazar district.
The project is implemented out of the keenness of Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, on Rohingya refugees and host communities, and out of its humanitarian responsibility toward them in light of the difficult living conditions they are going through. The scheme is also an extension of projects offered to them in various health, nutrition and shelter fields.
Meanwhile, KSrelief Project (Masam) for clearing mines in Yemen dismantled, during the third week of May 2022, a total of 1,339 mines planted by the Houthi militia across Yemen, including 65 anti-personnel mines, 577 anti-tank mines, 692 unexploded ordnance and five explosive devices.
Since the beginning of the project, as many as 339,431 mines have been dismantled.
Saudi Arabia, represented by KSrelief, seeks through the project to clear Yemeni lands of the mines that were randomly planted by the Houthi militia causing death and injury of innocent children, women, and the elderly. — SPA
