As usual, the regional and international compass is being pointed to Saudi Arabia as far as major events and crises are concerned. The Kingdom has become the destination for officials of countries while carrying out their diplomatic missions to solve political problems and the consequent economic bottlenecks, as well as to defuse confrontations and broker settlements between the warring parties.

Let us recall that with the break out and intensification of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the Kremlin opened the line of communication with the Kingdom, as did the Ukrainian president. During the past week, there were extremely crucial discussions by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the Kingdom with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) group as well as with the Saudi leadership in light of an unprecedented global crisis, since World War II, between Russia on one side and the Western bloc and the United States of America on the other side.

But the more important thing than this was what the American media began to publish a few days ago about a possible visit of US President Joe Biden to Saudi Arabia as part of his upcoming foreign tour. The news reached the degree of confirmation as per the information received by leading newspapers and television channels from the White House leaks, and then the international media gave prominent coverage to this news story.

The truth is that this visit was expected at some point of time, despite the coldness in the relations between the two countries after the inauguration of the Biden administration, and its approach, which is not good, toward the Kingdom without genuine and objective reasons. Ultimately, it is real politics that imposes itself and common interests that take precedence over party ideology and the pressures of economic lobbies outweigh everything else.

Saudi Arabia is a strategic and historical ally of the US and as such US cannot marginalize the Kingdom especially when it is gaining more strength and influence economically and politically in its Arab, regional and international surroundings.

The United States has also realized the independence and sovereignty in the Saudi decision and the opportunities available to it to establish new alliances in light of a new world order that has begun to take shape and is almost removing America from the top, in addition to its myriad internal problems. Therefore, America has started searching for paths to restore warmth to relations.

Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid Bin Salman, accompanied by a large delegation, made an important visit to America, during which he met a number of officials who include the American decision-makers, and perhaps to pave the way for a possible visit by President Biden to the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia dealt with the positions of the new American administration intelligently, rationally, calmly and wisely. The Kingdom proceeded to exercise its global political roles and implement huge development projects with sobriety and perseverance, without any concern for the negative dealings of the American administration with it. And when America saw that the Kingdom was an influential power and that it can attract major powers to come forward to tie up with it, perhaps Washington would have realized its mistake and started trying to correct it.
