Dr. Shaker: Crown Prince's visit opens ambitious horizons for cooperation fields

CAIRO — Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker stressed that the visit of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, to Cairo will open ambitious horizons for future cooperation aspects between the two countries in various domains, mainly in the fields of electric connection and energy.

Dr. Shaker, in remarks to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on the occasion of the Crown Prince's visit, referred to the increase in volume of cooperation through ambitious development projects that serve the two peoples and form an important pillar for pan-Arab and regional cooperation.

He stressed that energy is among the most important pillars of development, whether the cooperation was in the field of electric connection, renewable and clean energy projects, sea water desalination or green hydrogen.

The minister also noted that the electric connection project between Saudi Arabia and Egypt is a result of the deep-rooted relations between the two countries throughout history, and reiterates the directives of both countries' leaderships directives in realizing economic and social goals for the countries of the entire Arab world.

He emphasized that electric connection among them will form a core for a pan-Arab connection, in addition to its being a supporter to the 2030 visions in both countries.

Dr. Shaker also referred to the ambitious plans of the two counties to expand reliance on renewable energy resources, stressing that such a connection represents a "safety valve" for the two power grids in facing the instability of renewable energy systems in general and provide huge investments to address any impacts that might arise.
