US, Chinese foreign ministers to meet at G20 in Bali

WASHINGTON — US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet in Bali this week with the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the Department of State announced Tuesday.

State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said in a statement that Blinken will travel to Bali and then to Bangkok, Thailand from July 6-11.

The statement added that at the G20, Blinken will reinforce our commitment to working with international partners to confront global challenges, including food and energy insecurity and the threat Russia’s war against Ukraine presents to the international order.

The statement noted that Blinken will also hold a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

In Bangkok, Bliken will meet with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, according to the statement. — Agencies
