BRUSSELS — European Union High Representative Josep Borrell will be in Bali, Indonesia, on Thursday and Friday to participate in the Foreign Minister's meeting of the G20 held under the theme 'Recover Together, Recover Stronger.'

The meeting takes place at a time when the socioeconomic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are being exacerbated by Russia's war against Ukraine, sending shockwaves across the global economy, said a statement released by Borrell's office on Wednesday.

"The meeting will focus on the need to uphold and reinvigorate multilateralism and address urgent energy and food security challenges," it stated. EU's foreign policy chief will use this opportunity to recall that current circumstances need more multilateralism and global solutions than ever.

The High Representative will use this opportunity to recall that current circumstances need more multilateralism and global solutions than ever. The EU stands by its partners to work for common solutions and tackle challenges together, noted the statement.

On the margins of the meeting, Borrell will have a number of bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from different continents, to discuss regional and bilateral issues and the global impact of Russia's war on Ukraine, in particular on food security, it added.

Indonesia currently holds the Presidency of G2, which includes the world's major developed and emerging economies. The G20 was formed in 1999 with the aim of discussing policies in order to achieve international financial stability. — Agencies
