RIYADH — The Public Prosecution has warned in a statement against those who exploit the Hajj period to collect donations.

The Public Prosecution said that it is prohibited to collect donations in any form for any party and by any means, whether in kind or cash, or to announce and call for them without obtaining a permit from the competent authority during the performance of the Hajj rituals.

It is also forbidden to make and use the spirituality and sanctity of the Hajj ritual in collecting donations, the Public Prosecution said, indicating that in the event that anyone breached this matter, then it will require criminal accountability.

The Public Prosecution warned that exploiting the pilgrimage to collect donations is considered as one of the crimes that warrant arrest if these practices involve the use of any fraudulent methods to illegally seize the money of others.
