MAKKAH - Minister of Health Fahd Al-Jalajel granted the title of ‘Mother of the Volunteers’ to a 65-year-old Saudi female doctor in appreciation of her active participation in the voluntary work of extending medical care for the Hajj pilgrims despite her retirement from service. The minister praised the selfless efforts and dedication of the doctor in serving the pilgrims during the Hajj season, Al Arabiya channel reported.
Al-Jalajel met the woman doctor while he was making inspection tour of the activities of the teams of volunteers who were engaged in providing healthcare for pilgrims at the Holy Sites during the Hajj.
Speaking to the volunteers, the minister said: “Retirement is only from the office and not from serving the pilgrims.” He praised her efforts in serving the pilgrims and taking care of their healthcare.
Al-Jalajel said he had met with a 41-year-old volunteer, but this doctor “broke the record” with her age exceeding 65 years, and thus she deserves the title of “Mother of the Volunteers,” he said while promising to present her an official certificate in this regard.
