JEDDAH — Officers of the Special Forces for Environmental Security announced that their inspectors have arrested two people in Jeddah for committing environmental pollution.

The Special Forces said that the violators, who are Sudanese nationals, polluted the environment and damaged the soil by burning industrial waste for the purpose of collecting copper, noting that they were carrying out the process in an illegal manner.

The Special Forces said that they have started legal procedures against the culprits, in addition to referring them to the competent authorities.

It is worth mentioning that a whopping fine amounting to SR10 million is the penalty for engaging in an activity or doing an act that directly or indirectly leads to damage or pollution of the soil or negatively affects its use or even damages its natural properties.
