RIYADH — The Special Forces for Environmental Security have warned that they will impose a financial penalty if someone sets fire in places other than those designated for them.

The Special Forces said that the financial penalty for setting of fires in places other than those designated in forests or in the national parks is a fine of up to SR3,000.

The forces called on everyone to cooperate with them and report any cases that constitute an attack on the environment or wildlife on the number 911 in the Makkah and Riyadh regions, and 999 and 996 in the rest of Saudi Arabia.

It is noteworthy that the officers of the Special Forces for Environmental Security had announced earlier that their inspectors had arrested two people in Jeddah for committing environmental pollution.

The Special Forces said that the violators, who are Sudanese nationals, polluted the environment and damaged the soil by burning industrial waste for the purpose of collecting copper.

They also noted that they were carrying out the process of burning industrial waste in an illegal manner.

Additionally, a fine amounting to SR10 million is the penalty for engaging in an activity or committing an act that directly or indirectly leads to damage or pollution of the soil or negatively affects its use or even damages its natural properties.
