Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) confirmed that all the food in Saudi Arabia is halal.

SFDA's assertion that all kinds of foods in the Kingdom are halal came during its response to an inquiry about whether they are obligating food companies to place the “halal” mark on their products.

The authority also confirmed its keenness to follow up on food products and their safety from any damage, in addition to ensuring that the products conform to the approved standard specifications.

In the event of any poisoning case happening or any cases of this kind occurred, then the individuals can report food poisoning cases through the Saudi Vigilance “Tayaqath” platform, SFDA noted.

It is noteworthy that the Vigilance program of the SFDA is characterized by containing several things that help individuals to report and complain about cases of food poisoning and adulterated cosmetic products, devices and medical supplies.

The program's services also include submitting reports of drug shortages, in addition to reporting side effects as well as medication errors and any defect in the quality of pharmaceutical products.

The platform aims to facilitate and speed up the reporting process, as it enables all health practitioners, pharmacies, health institutions, companies and all the individuals to lodge with their complaints.
