RIYADH — The Civil Defense Directorate has warned the public against approaching the valleys and swamps because they may contain poisonous animals that were swept by torrents.

Maj. Abdul-Khaleq Al-Qahtani, Civil Defense spokesman in the Najran region, said in an interview with Al-Ekhbariya, that everyone should stay away from these places because of the dangers that threaten people’s lives.

The spokesman said that swamps are formed by heavy rain and warned not to approach them, or swim in, which may contain silt that may cause people to get stuck in.

It is worth mentioning that three children and one young man were drowned in two separate accidents in Thar and Habouna governorates in the southern Najran region in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Three children were drowned in Al-Rahba village in the Thar governorate while they were swimming in a swamp. “All the three were dead and their bodies retrieved,” the Civil Defense said in a statement on its Twitter account. A young man was drowned in a pool of water in Wadi Arkan in the Habouna governorate.
