Approval of Higher authorities to give more powers to High Commission for Industrial Security

RIYADH Saudi Arabia’s higher authorities have approved the organization of the High Commission for Industrial Security (HCIS) with giving more powers to exercise its functions more diligently and efficiently.

The military personnel and civilian staff, equipment, workplace and related projects pertaining to the work of the commission will be transferred to it from the Ministry of Interior, Okaz/Saudi Gazette has learnt from well informed sources.

A new committee, headed by the Ministry of Interior, has been formed with the membership of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Ministry of Finance, and the High Commission for Industrial Security to deal with the transfer.

The approval of the higher authorities included the organization of the new body, with introducing new item within the budget clause of the Supreme Authority for Military Jobs in order to facilitate the organization of the commission with allocations from the state’s general budget.

According to the decision of the higher authorities, the civil employees, who are set to be transferred from the Ministry of Interior to HCIS, shall be treated in accordance with the provisions contained in the rules and regulations applicable to employees and workers in the sectors targeted for privatization.

The decision enables HCIS to exercise its powers and fully implement its tasks in controlling and supervising the facilities in the petroleum, industrial and service sectors. These facilities should also fully comply with the regulations and instructions issued by the commission. These facilities must also inform HCIS about any event, danger or threat to their security and safety in accordance with the mechanisms approved by the commission. The facilities shall carry out any works or evaluation only with the cooperation of HCIS, according to the decision of the higher authorities.
