JEDDAH
Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, said that he will be the first customer in the city of ‘The Line’ whether he owns an apartment or a villa in it. “We all live in it in the future,” he said while expressing his great admiration for the ambitious project of the city of the future.

Prince Khaled Al-Faisal made the remarks while visiting the exhibition showcasing detailed designs and architectural concepts of ‘The Line’ at the Jeddah Superdome on Wednesday. He was briefed on the most salient features and specifications of ‘The Line’ city, which will be built on an area not exceeding 34 square kilometers.

NEOM launched the exhibition following the recent announcement of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about the designs of ‘The Line,’ which is a reflection of what urban communities will be like in the future. The visitors can have a rare opportunity to view the detailed designs, architectural models and informative films explaining the project in all its glory.

The exhibition, which began on Aug. 1 and will run until Aug. 14, is open to the public for free. After August 14, the exhibition will move to other locations, including the Eastern Province and Riyadh.

During the exhibition, visitors are able to experience ‘The Line’ first-hand and explore the endless possibilities of future living. Once completed, The Line will be 200 meters wide, 170 kilometers long and 500 meters high and will be built on a footprint of 34 square kilometers. Unlike traditional cities, it will run on 100 percent renewable energy and prioritize health and well-being over transportation and infrastructure.

The total footprint is significantly smaller compared to other cities of similar capacity, and it will contribute to conserving 95 percent of NEOM’s land. There will be no streets, cars, and emissions in The Line. Furthermore, its ideal climate all year round will ensure that residents can enjoy surrounding nature when walking around. Residents will also have access to all facilities in The Line within a five-minute walk, in addition to a high-speed rail with an end-to-end transit of 20 minutes.
