August 25, 2022

KABUL At least 180 people were killed and around 250 others injured in different parts of Afghanistan due to flash floods over the past month, said authorities.

According to the State Ministry for Disaster Management, more than 180 people were killed by flash floods over the past month.

"First, we provided essential needs for the flood-affected people. Second, we held meetings with organizations in the capitals and provinces to encourage them to provide assistance," said Mohammad Naseem Haqqani, a spokesman for the ministry.

The ministry confirmed that more than 3,000 houses were destroyed and thousands of acres of land was damaged. The ministry said that it has provided essential needs for the flood-affected people but there are not sufficient funds to build houses for the vulnerable.

Earlier in the month, officials confirmed that at least 40 people lost their lives while dozens others received injuries due to floods in Afghanistan's northern Parwan, Kapisa and Nangarhar provinces. — Agencies
