RIYADH — The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) confirmed that the expiry of the expats' Iqama does not prevent the person from extending the visitors' visit visa.

The Jawazat's confirmation came while responding to an inquiry whether the expiry of the Iqama would prevent them from extending the visitors' visit visa. It confirmed that they can extend it even if the Iqama has expired.

It also noted that receiving the domestic workers who came to work in Saudi Arabia for the first time is not their responsibility, but rather the responsibility of recruitment agencies.

While the domestic workers who arrived in the Kingdom with an exit and re-entry visa would be under the responsibility of the employer.
