RIYADH — The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday the suspension of an employee from service for allegedly taking photograph of a woman patient visiting the healthcare facility where he worked.

The ministry has confirmed that the security authorities have arrested the employee and referred him to the Public Prosecution to take legal measures against him.

The ministry’s action came following a video clip of the employee taking the picture of the patient went viral on social media. In a statement, the ministry reiterated its total rejection of such erroneous practices and violations of patients’ rights.

The ministry stated that it would not hesitate to hold accountable those employees who do not comply with the ministry’s regulations pertaining to safeguarding the rights and privacy of patients and those who fail to provide health services in accordance with the ministry’s policies.
