RIYADH — President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi, honored on Thursday the winners of the AI Artathon in its second edition, as part of the Global Summit on Artificial Intelligence initiatives, which concluded at the King Abdulaziz Convention Center in Riyadh.

The two contestants, Obeid Al-Safi and Elaine Lexba, won first place for their artwork (Where Loss Goes), which is a simulation of the sound notes of a camel's nostalgia for the loss of its child and an artificial intelligence algorithm that translated feelings into a sculpture printed with 3D printing technology. The value of the prize amounts to SR300,000.

Team members Reem Al-Ruwaili, Wafaa Al-Ghamdi, and Fatima Al-Ghamdi won second place in the competition for their work (City Of Poems), which is an imitation of the poem "Al-Layali" by Prince Badr bin Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz, where each verse represented a hypothetical city, as per the artificial intelligence translation of the poem and its sentiments. The poem is linked to the narration and description of the beauty of Riyadh. The prize is worth SR150,000.

The third place went to team members Yasser Sinjab and Firas Seif El-Din for their work (Spatial Of Ecologies). This artwork is based on artificial intelligence in spatial ecology and methods of interaction with the environment represented by biological modalities methods in the internal environment, displaying them in virtual reality and printing them with 3D techniques. The value of the prize is SR100,000. — SPA
