BALI — Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb stressed the importance of boosting cooperation toward building a more sustainable future for the tourism sector in the G20 countries and facing the main challenges that resulted from the corona pandemic.

Collective action is essential for the revival of the tourism sector after the pandemic had cast a heavy shadow on the sector, he said.

The Saudi minister reiterated the importance of partnerships between the public and private sectors, and multilateral cooperation in shaping the future of the sector.

This came during the G20 tourism ministers meeting hosted by Indonesia. Ministers from around the world participated in the meeting held under the slogan "Recover Together, Recover Stronger."

Al-Khateeb said: “The tourism industry has been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, and cooperation is needed to make a recovery and build a better future.”

Multilateral cooperation is essential to create a sector that is more capable of providing wealth and opportunities in places where they are most needed, he said. — SPA
