RIYADH — Riyadh police has arrested a citizen for harassing a Korean K-pop band ATEEZ upon their arrival at King Khalid International airport.

The Korean band arrived at the Saudi capital as part of their participation at the K-CON festival held in Riyadh from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1.

“The arrested citizen appeared in a video clip on social media, calling the band with phrases that would prejudice public morals during the arrival of a specialized band at the airport to participate in an event in Riyadh,” the police statement said.

The police added that legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the Public Prosecution.

K-CON festival, which included an exhibition highlighting Korean culture and an area dedicated to selling Korean products, saw a huge attendance from Saudi fans during the weekend.

Videos showed fans greeting and holding welcoming signs at the Korean bands arrival in the airport.
