RIYADH — Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman met here with Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohammed Shaker.
During the meeting, the two ministers talked about the progress of the two nations' electrical interconnection efforts. They also worked on preparing a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the fields of electricity, renewable energy, and clean hydrogen during the meeting.
They also discussed ways to improve cooperation with specialized businesses in the two countries, highlighting the keenness of the two governments to fulfill the ambitions of the two brotherly peoples.
Following the meeting, the two ministers witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding among the Egyptian Authority for the Development and Use of New and Renewable Energy, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, and the Saudi ACWA Power Company.
The MoU is with regard to the three parties' desire to implement a project with a capacity of 10 gigawatts of wind energy in Egypt. If the necessary lands are available to conduct the necessary measurements and technical studies for the project, the project's final contracts will be discussed. — SPA
