Al-Jubeir, Bouzar discuss development of joint cooperation in facing climate change

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member and Climate Affairs Envoy Adel Bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir met with the Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Khalida Bouzar in Sharm El-Sheikh.

SHARM EL-SHEIKH — Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member and Climate Affairs Envoy Adel Bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir has met with the Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Khalida Bouzar within the activities of the Saudi Green Initiative forum held on the sidelines of COP27 Summit here.

During the meeting, they reviewed aspects of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and UNDP and ways to enhance them, in addition to discussing the development of joint cooperation in facing climate change and supporting all initiatives that would contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Earlier, Al-Jubeir had met with Bahrain's Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Minister of Oil and Environment Dr. Mohamed Bin Mubarak Bin Daina within the activities of the Saudi Green Initiative forum.

During the meeting, they reviewed the strong fraternal relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them in all fields.

This is in addition to discussing the effective contributions of the "Middle East Green" and "Saudi Green" initiatives that support regional and international cooperation to confront climate change, with the aim of protecting human beings and saving the planet.

On Saturday, Al-Jubeir, participated in a session entitled: "Diplomatic Relations and International Cooperation", within the activities of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) forum here.

Al-Jubeir reviewed Saudi Arabia's efforts and initiatives to preserve the environment and reduce climate change, which are among the pillars of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, indicating that the Kingdom has many initiatives in renewable energy in order to protect the environment, and it has a responsibility to pay attention to climate change.

On the importance of international cooperation in the climate field, he said, "The problem of climate change does not recognize gender, race or borders, calling on the international community to cooperate to address the effects of climate change."

He also touched on the outcomes of the Middle East Green Initiative Summit 2022, and the importance of achieving climate and environmental objectives, in a way that contributes to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. — SPA
