RIYADH — The First Book Fair in the Eastern Region (Al-Sharqiya) that is under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture will take place in March 2023, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission announced.

The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission stressed that it is preparing to organize the Sharqiya Book Fair, revealing that it is targeting a huge attendance for the local and global publishing houses.

It also stated that Sharqiya Book Fair would include qualitative and specialized cultural programs alongside with an expansion in the cultural activities of children.

The Sharqiya Book Fair is the first for the activities of the Book Fairs in Saudi Arabia for the next year 2023, as it would represent a huge addition on the Book Fairs map.

The Sharqiya Book Fair will be distinguished by a cultural program that attracts the literate and culture symbols, such as interlocutors, intellectuals, writers, and pioneers of the publishing industry at the local, regional and global levels.

The Sharqiya Book Fair will ne hoping to achieve the goals of the MOC and the commission in supporting the publishing sector and to promote and enhance reading to be as lifestyle for the community.

The exhibition comes within the Book Fairs program, which is one of the strategic programs of the commission after the book fairs of Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah in a row.

This would let the commission to expand in organizing Book Fairs in different regions around Saudi Arabia, as it seek to reach the biggest possible group of people to enhance reading, in addition to support local and regional publishing houses to reach local audience.
