RIYADH — The Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) President Dr. Abdul Majeed Bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan and the Regional Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Othman Belbeisi signed a partnership agreement to support the launch of the Arab Center for Technical Cooperation in Migration and Border Management.
Dr. Al-Bunyan said the agreement comes within the framework of the strategic partnership between the university and the various United Nations institutions, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Through the framework many joint activities were carried out within the first and second MOUs signed between the two sides in 2011 and 2019, which resulted in implementing 25 scientific and training activities.
He added that the agreement would support efforts to establish the Arab Center for Technical Cooperation in Migration and Border Management, which will contribute to combating organized and cross-border crime .
The center will also address illegal immigration, as well as supporting the efforts of the international community to achieve security and stability.
Belbeisi highlighted that the signing of the agreement enhances the existing cooperation between the two sides in areas of common interest.
He stressed that the establishment of the center will help consolidate this institutional cooperation in a way that serves the goals and objectives of the center in supporting member states and strengthening efforts in security sciences, crime control and prevention, and migration management, and border security. — SPA
