Al-Jasser: King Salman International Airport to be sophisticated economic hub

RIYADH — Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser stressed that the King Salman International Airport will prominently contribute to enhancing Saudi Arabia's status as a global logistical hub among the three continents.

The masterplan for the King Salman International Airport in Riyadh was announced by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The King Salman International Airport will support the national strategic targets for transport and logistics services.

He added that the airport will also contribute to the empowerment of the national strategies of other sectors, such as commerce, industry and tourism, to implement their ambitious targets until realizing sustainable development.

He noted that the airport will be a sophisticated economic hub, an urban landmark and a model for integrated transport that will contribute to the development of the logistics industry and enhancing the aviation economics in accordance with the objectives of the civil aviation strategy.

The strategy seeks to increase destinations to more than 250 international destinations, transport 330 million passengers and increase the capabilities of the air cargo sector by doubling its capacity to reach more than 4.5 million tons.

The minister also referred to the significant national role of the Public Investment Fund and its contributions to the delivery of major projects in the transport and logistics sector. — SPA
