RIYADH — A total of 174 male and female Saudi students, including 131 scholarship recipients, and 43 self-funded students, are enrolled in Chinese universities, the Ministry of Education revealed.
Saudi Arabia, in turn, has provided 477 annual scholarships for Chinese students at Saudi universities.
The number of Chinese students studying in public universities over the last five years has reached 688 male and female students.
Four public universities in Saudi Arabia, namely King Saud University, King Abdulaziz University, Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, and the University of Jeddah, provide a variety of programs in teaching the Chinese language.
Around 871 students have enrolled in these programs for the academic year 2022. In addition, 207 male and female students have graduated from the current academic year's Chinese language programs.
The ministry seeks to diversify language-learning resources in education, including Chinese language instruction, based on its strategic and economic importance both now and in the future.
Cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China in higher education is witnessing ongoing expansion with a clear strategy for the future.
The cooperation includes various fields of science and advanced technology industries to enhance the cultural diversity of students, the ministry said.
