Umrah pilgrim influx revives Makkah markets

December 20, 2022

MAKKAH — Hotels are witnessing an active movement in the central district and other neighborhoods of Makkah in conjunction with the increase in the number of Umrah performers.

The influx of pilgrims has played a significant role in reviving the hotel sector and furnished hotel apartments in Makkah. The number of hotels and hotel apartments exceeded 200 in the central districts. A high turnout on restaurants, transportation, markets and commercial centers has been reported.

The Holy Capital markets have witnessed a dynamic economic movement with an increasing number of Umrah performers. Ready-to-wear clothing was the most in demand among shoppers, along with gifts and Zamzam water, especially that Umrah performers are keen to buy ready-to-wear Arabic clothes that include heritage clothing such as garments, gowns, and children's clothing, among others. — SPA
