RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Education Ministry has announced the launch of 39 training programs to enhance the athletic performance of teachers and students.
The training programs will develop the athletic performance of 1,435 male and female physical education and sports activity supervisors, physical and health education teachers, in addition to 325 general education students.
The ministry said the training programs will be implemented in 11 regions and governorates, in cooperation with the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), the Leadership Development Institute (LDI), the Saudi Life Saving Federation, Saudi Arabian Sports Culture Federation and the Saudi Table Tennis Federation.
The programs and training courses that the ministry conducts within the second and third semesters of this academic year, in person and remotely, aim to enhance the practice of sports activity.
It also aims to spread the sports culture and discover talents, in addition to developing the skills of educational supervisors and teachers in a number of different sports fields.
The ministry added that the courses include discovering sports talents as well as the introduction and organization of table tennis. The program will also include elementary skills in lifesaving and water safety, in addition to a course for teachers of physical and health education with regard to school sports activities.
