Saudi Embassy updates citizens on new COVID-19 protocols in China

December 29, 2022

Saudi Gazette report

BEIJING — Saudi Arabia's embassy in China has alerted Saudi citizens on Beijing's decision to downgrade management of COVID-19 from top-level Class A to Class B infectious disease, starting from Jan. 8, 2023.

It has clarified that the new decision included lifting several measures, which include quarantine procedures for those traveling to China and the requirement of COVID-19 test 48 hours before arrival, as well as an examination upon arrival.

Travelers are no longer required to request an application to get a health code from the diplomatic missions and Chinese consulates, as they are only required to disclose their health status by filling out the health declaration form at the Chinese customs.

Those who will be found to be in an abnormal health condition after the examination or have symptoms of fever will receive an antigen test at the customs. They will be advised to self-isolate at home until recovery, or to receive treatment in hospital, depending on their health condition.
