JEDDAH — Most schools in various cities of Saudi Arabia have been suspended and will remain open remotely on Thursday for the 5th time in a row due to the rainy weather condition that the Kingdom's regions are witnessing.
Online classes will be conducted through the “Madrasati platform” for all students, and for school employees, due to the current weather, and in order to preserve their safety.
A number of education departments announcing the school suspension, so far, are Jeddah, Makkah, Al-Qassim, Taif, Khulais, Bahrah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jamoum, Rabigh, Al-Quwaiiyah, Al-Sharqiya, Al Majma'ah, Madinah. Other departments may also announce the in-person suspension as the day progresses.
It is worth mentioning that the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) raised the alert status in the Riyadh region to a warning, indicating that thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain are expected. It also indicated that the alert will end at 8.00 p.m. Wednesday.
The NCM expects that the chances of rain would decrease with the continuation of active winds in a number of regions of the Kingdom from Wednesday night until Thursday morning. These regions include Tabuk, Al-Jouf, the Northern Borders, Hail, Madinah, and Makkah.
The regions of Al-Qassim, Al-Sharqiya, Riyadh and the heights of the regions of Makkah, Al-Baha and Asir will witness continued rain on Thursday and Friday.
