RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Heritage Commission has registered 41 new urban heritage sites in Taif governorate in the National Register of Urban Heritage.

The urban heritage sites that have been registered are King Abdulaziz Palace at Al-Moeih, Suleiman Mosque, Abdullah Ibn Abbas Mosque, in addition to Souk Okaz.

The commission said that this step comes in a framework of its efforts to discover the historical and heritage sites in Saudi Arabia and document, register and preserve them.

The sites have been distributed in Taif governorate and its affiliated centers, which are palaces, heritage houses, in addition to museums, towers, mosques, markets, schools, villages and castles.

CEO of the Heritage Commission Dr. Jasser Al-Harbash said that the commission is continuing toward discovering and documenting the historical sites throughout Saudi Arabia, and also register them in the National Register of Urban Heritage.

He added that they would archive and digitize the historical sites and then include them in an advanced digital record that serves the Kingdom's national heritage.

Dr. Al-Harbash called on all the citizens and those who are interested in heritage and history to report the sites through the (Heritage urban) service via the customer service platform of the commission, or through the commission's official accounts on social media, or through the commission's branches in different Saudi cities.
