RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned and denounced the terrorist attack that took place in a mosque in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, which led to many deaths and several injuries.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it expressed the Kingdom’s total rejection of targeting the places of worship, intimidating people, shedding the blood of the innocent.

The Ministry affirmed Saudi Arabia’s standing and solidarity with the Pakistani people against all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism, whatever was their motives or justifications.

The Ministry has also expressed its sincere condolences to the victims’ families, and wished the injuries a speedy recovery.

It is noteworthy that the police chief in the Pakistani city of Peshawar said that the suicide attack in a mosque in the northwestern city of Peshawar resulted in 47 dead and more than 140 wounded.

“The sheer scale of the human tragedy is unimaginable” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said,

“This is no less than an attack on Pakistan. The nation is overwhelmed by a deep sense of grief. I have no doubt terrorism is our foremost national security challenge.”
