Saudi Gazette Report

RIYADH — The Public Prosecution, represented by the Economic Crimes Prosecution, framed charges of commercial fraud against the owner of a car showroom for selling a vehicle that was damaged in an accident after making modifications and repair work.

An official source at the Public Prosecution stated that it was revealed in investigations that the owner had sold the vehicle after making a radical change in its structure and details to make it look as if it was a newly manufactured one. It was found that the car had been involved in a traffic accident and it was estimated by the competent authority that the car was completely damaged.

The source said that the defendant was referred to the competent court on charges of commercial fraud for selling a fraudulent product that had undergone alteration. The prosecution will plead with the court to award him penalties prescribed in the law.

The source emphasized that the Public Prosecution is keen on ensuring judicial protection of the commercial process in the Kingdom and violators of the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law will be held accountable for their crimes.
