Saudi team continues field operations in Türkiye’s quake-affected areas

RIYADH — The Saudi search-and-rescue team continues its tasks in Türkiye’s earthquake-hit regions as part of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) relief efforts to the earthquake victims.

It was the team’s eighth day of search-rescue operations in 46 locations in 3 Turkish cities contributing to pulling up bodies from under the wreckage.

The team received high-level training on dealing with disasters and accidents. It consists of rescuers, medics, engineers, and doctors, professionals in K9 rescue, maintenance, and telecommunications; and safety and security specialists.

These specialists work according to a concise organizational structure, covering the administration, operations, logistics, medical support, and rescue-search departments. It is equipped with specialized vehicles, technical tools, and medical and communication devices.

The team of the General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense has been classified high on the INSARAG Search and Rescue Directory. It has represented the Kingdom in joint drills in several countries, and has also participated in relief efforts extended to people affected by floods and other natural disasters around the world. — SPA
