KSrelief signs 2 programs worth $6m with UNDP to support Yemeni people

RIYADH — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) signed on Tuesday two joint executive programs worth $6 million, with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), to support the Yemeni people.

The two programs were signed by Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, advisor at the Royal Court and general supervisor of KSRelief, and Achim Steiner, administrator of the UNDP, on the sidelines of the third Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum.

The first agreement amounting to $4, will benefit 1,491 individuals, through which young men and women in Yemen will have vocational training in addition to vocational and technical skills support, in order to enhance and strengthen their skills in the field of business required by the local market.

This will be conducted in rural areas in the governorates of Abyan, Lahij, Ad Dali', Adan, Al Mahrah, Ma'rib, Shabwah, Hadhramaut and Taiz.

As for the second agreement, amounting to $2, it will be within the social protection project to contribute in reducing the vulnerability and enhancing the steadfastness and social cohesion of communities affected by the humanitarian crisis in the Yemeni governorates of Aden, Hadhramaut and Lahij, through creating sustainable livelihoods, and strengthening peacebuilding initiatives.

The second agreement will benefit 1,084 individuals of those affected, internally displaced persons, marginalized groups, in addition to people with disabilities.

The two signed agreements come as a continuation of Saudi Arabia's efforts, represented by KSrelief, in providing humanitarian and relief assistance to the groups affected by the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
