50 contestants reach ‘Otr ElKalam’ finals

RIYADH — As many as 50 contestants from 28 countries belonging to four continents have qualified for the finals of Otr ElKalam, a global Islamic religious competition attracting Holy Qur’an narrators and announcers of Adhan (calling for prayers).

After having passed electronic qualifying phases launched on the Jan. 4, the contestants are scheduled to appear for the finals in Riyadh before an arbitration committee during the forthcoming fasting month of Ramadan.

More than 50,000 contestants from 165 countries have competed in the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and calling for prayers to choose the world's most nice voices in the art of calling for prayers.

The competition aims at casting light on drawing the attention of Holy Qur’an reciters and Adhan announcer to some crucial distinctions among them, and introducing the culture of Holy Qur’an and Adhan to the whole world. — SPA
