RIYADH — The Presidency of State Security announced the arrest of a criminal gang engaged in fraudulent practices after impersonating government officials in Dammam.

Members of the gang were found involved in cheating individuals, firms and organizations by impersonating officials and obtaining banking data.

They operated under the pretext of providing financial assistance through misusing telephone programs and fake links to websites of government agencies and commercial establishments.

It was found that the gang targeted many citizens and residents. Security officials arrested members of the gang who operated from their hideout in the city of Dammam.

The Presidency urged the public to neither respond to anonymous calls nor reveal their secret code and details of bank accounts.

It also stressed the importance of informing the Communications and Information Technology Commission about such calls and messages through its phone number 330330 or the number of the presidency’s Field Operations Center 990.
