Saudi Gazette Report

RIYADH — The General Directorate of Border Guards warned against crossing the prohibited land border areas in the Kingdom. Violators of the Border Security Law and its executive regulations will be sentenced to 30 months in prison or a maximum fine of SR25,000 or of both, it said in a statement.

The directorate called on Saudi citizens and expatriates, who frequently visit wild areas, to stay away from the border areas and adhere to the regulations and instructions that prevent approaching the prohibited land border areas, which have been notified by warning signboards and construction of dirt berms along the borders.

The directorate warned all hikers and picnickers against approaching wild areas close to the border areas while emphasizing that it will not show leniency with regard to taking punitive measures against the violations. The violators will be arrested and they will be referred to the competent authorities for taking punitive measures.
