Saudi Gazette report

DAMMAM — The King Fahd Causeway, linking Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, has set a new record for crossing the highest number of passengers in its history. More than 136,000 passengers passed through the causeway on Saturday, March 4.

The number of passengers on that day reached 136,498, making it the highest number in the history of the bridge since its construction. This number exceeded the number that was recorded on January 11, 2020, which witnessed the crossing of more than 131,000 passengers.

The travel procedures area on the causeway, on both the Saudi and Bahraini sides, witnessed huge crowds of travelers during peak hours from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The traffic congestion coincided with the start of the second semester vacation period, and the Passport and Customs officials have made elaborate arrangements and facilities to travelers with maintaining flawless security.

Despite the large numbers of passengers, the movement of vehicles was smooth and the procedures were completed quickly, as reverse lanes were opened on the Saudi side to reduce congestion at peak times.

The Passports Directorate in the Eastern Province confirmed the completion of the arrival and departure procedures for individual travelers and families passing through all ports with ease and comfort.
