RIYADH —
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said the resumption of diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Tehran stems from the Kingdom's vision of preferring political solutions and dialogue.

Prince Faisal's remarks come after Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed on Friday to restore diplomatic ties after seven years of tense relations.

Prince Faisal said on his Twitter account: “The countries of the region have one destiny and common factors that make it necessary for us to join hands to build a model of prosperity and stability for our peoples.”

Iraq, Oman and the UAE welcomed the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran to restore diplomatic ties.

Iraq described the agreement as “turning a new page” in relations between Riyadh and Tehran. Oman also welcomed the agreement.

Iraq and Oman hosted rounds of talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran in 2021 and 2022.

Anwar Gargash, advisor to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, welcomed the agreement in a tweet, hailing the mediating role of China.
