Kuwait's Constitutional Court annuls 2022 parliament, reinstates 2020 formation

March 19, 2023

KUWAIT — The Kuwaiti Constitutional Court has annulled the results of the 2022 National Assembly (parliament) elections and brought back the 2020 parliament.

The court ruled that the election process, which took place in September, was null and void due to discrepancies in the decree dissolving the 2020 National Assembly, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The results of the 2022 elections, held in five constituencies, are now annulled and the members of the 2020 parliament are reinstated, it added.

The Court decided on March 8 to postpone the challenges filed against the 2022 elections results to March 19. — Agencies
