The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST), a government entity established to lead and grow the Kingdom’s telecoms, space, and IT sectors, has published the Saudi Internet Report 2022, an account of the most accurate statistics on internet usage in the Kingdom.

Covering the development of IT infrastructure, the report aims to enhance digital services in the public and private sectors, attract technical investments, and contribute to a thriving digital economy.

Tracking daily internet usage across gender, age, and region, the report shows a growth in internet usage, with 49.4% of internet users spending 7 hours or more online each day, with some of the heaviest traffic occurring on Saturday.

It also includes data on the Kingdom's growing internet penetration, showing that 98.6% of the population is now online. With key data on e-government application downloads, the report revealed that Tawakkalna Services was the most downloaded app in the country, while Madrasati ranked first among educations apps and Nusuk among travel apps.

Examining key statistics for infrastructure and service provision quality, the report showed that average mobile internet download speeds reached 180.2 Mbps, maintaining the Kingdom’s top ten position in the world. With 28% of respondents having unlimited mobile internet packages, average per capita mobile data consumption was 37GB per month in 2022, the report shows.

The second edition of the Saudi Internet Report was published at the ICT Indicators Forum, which highlights the most prominent numbers and indicators in the sector and across society, reflecting both trends and broader policies to enhance the efficiency of digital infrastructure and support the Kingdom’s digital economy.
