Saudi Gazette report

AVARUA DISTRICT — Saudi Arabia and the Cook Islands have signed a protocol project to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The protocol project was signed at the headquarters of Saudi Arabia’s Embassy in New Zealand by Tariq Alfayez, chargé d’affaires of the Saudi Embassy in Wellington, and Piakura Passfield, chargé d’affaires of the Cook Islands Mission to New Zealand.

This comes after less than one month of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque King Salman, approval to establish diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and the Cook Islands at the level of non-resident ambassador.

It is noteworthy that the Cook Island, whose capital is Avarua District, contains 15 islands located at the south of The Pacific Ocean. Rarotonga is considered the largest island in the country.
