MAKKAH — The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites has announced that the Makkah Buses has set a new record after the number of its users exceeded 50 million since its launch in mid-February 2022 until April 2023.
The Commission said that the number is considered new mark after it achieved in December 2022 an increase that reached 71%, as the number of the passenger was 25 million, compared to the expected estimates of bus users for the entire year.
The expected estimates indicate that this number will be doubled during the upcoming period, due to the facilitation of buses for visitors and residents of Makkah and meeting their needs.
The Commission’s CEO Eng. Saleh Bin Ibrahim Al-Rasheed said that the increase has exceeded their expectations, thanks to the technologies that have been used in the Makkah Buses have contributed to that increase.
Moreover, he also indicated that the capacity had a great role in achieving this number, as the articulated buses operate with a capacity of 125 passengers, while the regular buses operate with a capacity of 85 passengers, and they were operated through 12 lanes and 438 stops.
