MAKKAH — Life-saving teams in Makkah region were able to save the life of a 32-year-old Egyptian pilgrim whose heart stopped twice for 27 minutes. He suffered severe shortness of breath, which led to his loss of consciousness.

Makkah Healthcare Cluster explained that the patient was transferred to the Haram Emergency Center through emergency teams. During his transfer to the Haram Emergency Center, the patient’s heart stopped.

Rapid intervention was performed by the ambulance team to perform cardiac resuscitation for 12 minutes.

After the patient arrived at the Haram Emergency Center, he suffered another cardiac arrest. The team continued to perform cardiac resuscitation for 15 minutes and give electric shocks.

The treating medical team said that the necessary clinical tests and radiology were performed that showed no regularity in the patient's heart muscle and severe inflammation in the lungs.

The patient was placed on a ventilator and admitted to the intensive care department of the hospital to receive full care by the specialized medical team until the patient's condition stabilized the next day.

The treating team confirmed that after fully ensuring the stability of the patient's respiratory condition, the ventilator was lifted and vital signs returned to normal.

The patient will still be under follow-up and treatment stages with medical teams until he is safely discharged from the hospital.
