Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The General Directorate of Civil Defense has said its rescue teams saved a person who got stuck inside his vehicle due to torrential rain in the Huraymila governorate in the Riyadh region.

After the rescue operation, relevant regulations were applied against the vehicle owner, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Traffic (Muroor), for failing to comply with safety instructions, the Civil Defense confirmed on its official Twitter account.

The driver committed a violation by risking his life to cross a flooded valley during heavy rain.

The Civil Defense has warned the public against approaching three sites during rains due to the danger they posed as well as to avoid possible drowning or being washed away by torrential floodwaters.

It said people should take precautions during rain and stay away from low-lying areas, places where water gathers and valleys.

The Civil Defense earlier called on the public to beware of thunderstorms that would be experienced in most regions of Saudi Arabia until Thursday.
