Sudanese army, RSF agree on extending ceasefire truce

May 01, 2023

KHARTOUM — Sudan's Army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) agreed on Sunday to extend a ceasefire truce by 72 hours as of this evening, in response to some local and international calls.

Despite the announcement of the truce, clashes between the two warring parties are ongoing in the Sudanese capital and its suburbs.

The Sudanese army announced that its forces are attacking the RSF in the capital with varied weapons to expel them out of the city.

Because of the fighting, more than 500 persons have been killed and thousands others were wounded.

Since April 15, Sudan has been witnessing clashes between the Armed Forces and the RSF in Khartoum and some other cities.

Before the eruption of the fighting, there had been talks on integrating the RSF into the army within a timeframe to pave the way for forming a civil government. — Agencies
