RIYADH — Saudi Arabia, represented by King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) and the Ministry of Education, has won two global awards in the 57th edition of the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad, which was held in Kazakhstan.

With the latest achievement, the Kingdom has increased its prize pool in the Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad to 21 awards, including 16 silver and 5 bronze medals, with the participation of 116 male and female students from 21 countries.

The Kingdom was represented at the Olympiad by a seven-student team from various educational directorates. Students Mohammad Al-Hadlaq, from Riyadh Education Directorate, and Ali Salah Al-Musa, from the Eastern Provide Education Directorate, won bronze medals.

The Kingdom’s achievement is part of a wider endeavor and a systematic creativity development effort by Mawhiba, which includes a number of initiatives and programs implemented in cooperation with prestigious universities and academic institutions that seek to improve students’ talents and enhance their creativity and innovation skills. — SPA
