RIYADH — The Standing Committee on International Humanitarian Law of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, in coordination with the Child Protection Unit at the Civil Military Operations of the Joint Forces Authority, launched in Riyadh on Monday the fifth edition of the "Child Protection in Armed Conflict" training program.

The launch was also attended by Director of Civil Military Operations of the Joint Forces, Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Hababi.

The three-day training program, held at the Armed Forces Officers Club headquarters, offers employees of the Joint Forces and representatives of other relevant agencies training in protecting children from participating in armed conflicts.

International agreements criminalize and prohibit children from participating in armed conflict, considering compulsory recruitment of children a war crime and a violation of international law. — SPA
