Saudi Gazette report
RIYADH — Al-Nassr Club of Riyadh is close to seal a contract with Wilfried Zaha, Ivorian winger of the English Crystal Palace team.
Zaha has been offered a three-year deal by Al-Nassr worth £45 million or approximately 15 million pounds per season, the British Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday.
Al-Nassr began courting the player not long ago, but the negotiations were not resolved amid news that the player was very close to the club of the Saudi capital for this summer season.
Fabrizio Romano, one of the world’s most reliable journalists when it came to football transfers, made it clear, through his Twitter account, that nothing had happened in the course of the deal, and the player had not agreed yet. “The priority of playing in Europe is the choice for Zaha,” he said.
Al-Nassr is trying to strengthen its ranks after a season in which it failed to lift the Saudi Pro League title though it was able to succeed in adding Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the former Real Madrid icon, who joined the team in January this year.
Zaha’s representatives have also been approached by Atletico Madrid and three other Champions League clubs. The Ivory Coast international star has not made a decision on his future yet and wants to assess all his options.
Signing a new contract at Crystal Palace has not been ruled out, with Zaha’s current deal set to expire at the end of June.
