RIYADH — Saudi customs officers at the Haditha dry port have foiled two separate attempts to smuggle 466,326 Captagon pills into the Kingdom, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has said.

The authority said the pills were found hidden in two vehicles that arrived at the port.

It said 365,166 Captagon pills were seized from a truck while a second vehicle had 101,160 Captagon pills hidden inside.

The authority said following the seizure of the contraband, two accomplices inside the Kingdom were arrested in coordination with the General Directorate for Narcotics Control.

ZATCA said that it spares no effort to tighten its grip over the Kingdom's imports and exports. The authority vowed to be constantly vigilant against any smuggling attempts as part of its goal of strengthening security and protecting society against harmful substances and other contraband.

The authority has called on everyone to join in combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by reaching out to the designated number for security reports (1910) or via e-mail 1910@zatca.gov.sa or the international number (00966114208417).

ZATCA receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the unified customs system in strict confidentiality through these channels, and a financial reward will be given to the whistleblower if the provided information turned out to be correct. — SPA
